ANGELSONG

Angelsong is the story of Alex Richardson, who was abandoned as a child on the doorstep of Big Momma, his grandmother. He first experienced music singing with her while she cooked, but it was Sunday mornings in church where his journey with music began and the realization that it would be the focus of his life. A scholarship takes him to Syracuse University, where he meets his mentor, Xavier Voisin, who opens a world of singing he never knew existed. After graduating, he moves to New York to embark on a career. As fate would have it, Lafite Ardoin a former prima donna and celebrated voice teacher whose career was cut short by a virus, and one of New York’s most powerful agents, Arianna di Cancelli saw him perform and recognized his potential for greatness. Lafite offers to take Alex under her wing, and Arianna offers him an exclusive contract. To celebrate the recent events, Alex goes to his favorite restaurant, Angelo’s Bistro, and sees conductor Andreas Bechstein, whom he met several years earlier in Aspen. They start a passionate journey to discover what true love is.

Others enter Alex’s circle: Reynaldo, a gifted pianist running from a violent past; Pierre Rodin, the conductor of the Othello production that threatens to destroy Alex’s world; Salome and Richard, two eccentric seniors that are the life of any party; Robert, a gifted elementary school teacher, and Sean, the untalented Cellist determined to cause problems.

Angelsong is the story of how Alex went from being a child soloist in his country church to a celebrated singer and perhaps the definitive Othello the world has long awaited; it reveals how he used music to navigate through life’s joy, heartache, pain, and death.
